This 1907 Built Queen Anne House required 70 hours of carpentry repair and wood repairs before painting. The west elevation needed scaffolding so carpenters and painters could safely access all siding and trim for repairs and painting. A 15 year old IPE deck was cleaned and treated with a clear penetrating sealant Daly’s Ship and Shore.

Shearer was familiar with this home from two previous interior painting projects over the last eight years. The owners previous exterior painting project had taken five months to complete; so timely completion was important to the owners. Careful planning, adequate manpower and a separate carpentry crew allowed this project to conclude in less than two months. Scaffolding costs (billed by first month then daily as an industry practice) are always a consideration so the Shearer project managers advocated for the repairs, prep, and painting to be completed as efficiently as possible without sacrificing quality or safety.
